What an amazing post! Introduced me to a bunch of names of people whose work I wish I had time follow every thread of. I love the idea of identifying as a "liberationist" - it's what I'm FOR. Thanks again for your distillation, Brian. Much appreciated.
Brian, I very much appreciate your dedication to liberating ourselves, liberating our world, and doing it within the container of relationships. As a queer woman, I’ve learned that liberation begins with freeing myself from my own biases and clearing my windshield so I can better see where others are positioned. Thank you again for documenting this important work.
For folks who are interested in diving deeper, I wanted to highlight this hot-off-the-presses magazine release from the Whole Communities Project, a collaboration between the Center for Third World Organizing, The Fund for Liberatory Practice, and Leadership Learning Community (building on the work of the Liberatory Leadership Partnership): https://leadershiplearning.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Whole-Communities-Magazine-.pdf
They explain: "This magazine is for people firmly entrenched in their quest for liberation and adamant
about bringing their formations and communities along."
I've been fortunate.. I was born into and reared in three different cultures. Since my earlier years, I've been in vibrantly indigenous cultures... on three continents. Audre Lorde was the first poet with whom
My fifty years of transformative activism at personal, generational and collective levels has gifted me with bell hooks/Gloria, Vandana Shiva,Malidoma Some, Dedan Gills and Belvie Rooks as house guests. I have had close mutually learning relationships with extraordinary men and women because of my collective healing work in Toronto (the Meeting Place) ... my extraordinary brothers and other soul friends...and 5 decades of work with indigenous women. I am deeply grateful for the flows in which I've moved. Freeing myself from the invisible cages that limit me inside and out, has been a focus in my awareness lifelong

I'll bring these understandings into my current flow with deeply transformative and kinship growing networks. I'm a "hearth keeper" in some of those.
